COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Tuesday, Meteorologist Alan Rose visited Aragon Elementary School 4th graders and Sunrise Elementary School 3rd graders to talk about severe weather and how to be Storm Safe.
They went through the main severe weather types seen most frequently in Southern Colorado, including tornadoes, thunderstorms, winter weather and dangerous floods.
A highlight of the talk was a weather experiment using a hair dryer and ping pong balls, demonstrating the way hail forms in thunderstorms. Mr. Rose also used classroom volunteers to help describe the upcoming winter solstice. Time at the end of each presentation was spent answering questions from eager students.
