Snow, strong wind, and thunderstorms all possible in southern Colorado today

Today’s Forecast:
A winter weather advisory is in place for El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Pueblo, Custer, Huerfano, and western Las Animas counties through this evening. Watch for active precipitation all day with strong winds. Travel may becomes hazardous in the region today, so use caution. Snow will favor elevations over 5,000 feet.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 39; Low: 20. A wintry mix with periodic heavier snow showers today. Accumulations from 1-4 inches. Winds will be gusting up to 35 mph.

PUEBLO: High: 42; Low: 20. Likely to see all rain today, with a wintry mix possible. No snow accumulations. Wind gusts possible up to 30 mph.

CANON CITY: High: 42; Low: 28. Likely to see rain today in Canon City, with snow into the higher elevations of Fremont county, over 7,000 feet. Wind gusts possible up to 30 mph.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 34; Low: 17. Teller county will see all snow today, with 4-7 inches possible. Winds will gust up to 30 mph.

TRI-LAKES: High: 20s; Low: teens. Likely all snow today, with 4-7 inches possible. Blowing snow will reduce visibility on the roads, be cautious!

PLAINS: High: 40s; Low: 20s. A mix of rain and brief snow showers today. Thunderstorms are even possible along and south of HWY 50. Strong gusts likely, up to 35 mph.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 40s; Low: 20s. Elevations under 5,000 feet will see a wintry mix favoring rain, over 7,000 feet will see all snow. Minimal accumulations in Trinidad, but getting troublesome through Raton Pass and passes through the Sangre De Cristos.

Extended Outlook:
This storm will have left the region by 10 pm, and conditions clear out tonight. Temperatures stay in the 30s and 40s Monday with a windy evening. This wind continues Tuesday as a colder and drier front moves in, dropping temperatures. Conditions warm gradually from Wednesday through next weekend.
