Saturday severe weather threat lower; thunderstorms still likely

Today’s Forecast:
Warm today with sunshine between scattered clouds. Temperatures will be about 5 degrees above average. This afternoon thunderstorms will develop in the mountains and move into the front range and plains. These will be fairly widespread and hit or miss across southern Colorado. Small hail, heavy rain, and gusty winds will be the main threat. The severe weather risk is lower than Friday, but a few severe thunderstorms are possible, especially in the eastern plains.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 88; Low: 57. Very warm today with a chance of thunderstorms after 3 pm.

PUEBLO: High: 95; Low: 59. Hot day with thunderstorms possible after 3 pm.

CANON CITY: High: 92; Low: 61. Hot to start with showers and thunderstorms possible after 1 pm.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 77; Low: 50. Quite warm today with a clear start, clouds and spotty showers develop after 2 pm.

TRI-LAKES: High: 70s/80s; Low: 50s. Upper 70s and low 80s today with a chance of thunderstorms after 2 pm.

PLAINS: High: 90s; Low: 50s/60s. Hot today in the mid to upper 90s with a chance of thunderstorms this evening.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 90s; Low: 50s. Hot in the low 90s with an isolated chance of thunderstorms after 2 pm.

Extended Outlook:
Sunday will hotter and drier in southern Colorado. Temperatures will get to 5-10 degrees above average. Only a few isolated showers are likely Sunday, Next week is trending mostly dry with temperatures staying near average or above average.
