Today’s Forecast: A pulse of energy in the atmosphere moves through Colorado today from the west, leading to widespread showers and thunderstorms for the state. Most of the western slope is under a flash flood watch. No counties in our area have that watch, but isolated thunderstorms may lead to flash flooding conditions. Burn scars will be particularly susceptible today, due in part to "staging" of debris that has taken place this past week. Temperatures will be seasonable today.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 85; Low - 60. Right around average temperature wise today, with El Paso county seeing thunderstorms from the early afternoon to early evening. Rain chances diminish after dinner time. Watch for lightning and heavy rain with small hail.

PUEBLO: High - 93; Low - 63. A warm day, to the low 90s. Thunderstorms are possible in the mid afternoon until early evening. Locally heavy rain is possible with small hail.

CANON CITY: High - 89; Low - 64. A warm day, to the upper 80s before clouds and rain move in. From lunch time through late afternoon, thunderstorms are possible. Watch for locally heavy rain and frequent lightning.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 75; Low - 52. Very nice today, but scattered afternoon thunderstorms are likely, so get the outdoor activities in soon. Heavy rain and lightning are possible through early evening. Dry tonight.

TRI-LAKES: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Nice today, warming to the low 80s, with thunderstorms possible after lunch through early evening. Flash flooding is possible within isolated storms as well as small hail.

PLAINS: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Hot today to the mid 90s in the Plains. Relief from rain won't come until the late afternoon through tonight. Storms end by 10-11 pm.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 80s; Low - 50s/60s. The Spring burn scar will be susceptible to flooding today, so be cautious. Thunderstorms are likely from the early afternoon until early evening. Highs will climb to the low 80s for Walsenburg and upper 80s in Trinidad.

Extended Outlook: Sunday is trending drier for most, with limited showers in the mountains. It will be a good day to be outside and take a hike. Temperatures will be summer-like Sunday. A stretch of warm, dry days are with us for the first half of next week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hottest days. Thursday and Friday are trending slightly cooler with thunderstorms returning.
