Multi-faceted weather threats in Colorado Saturday

Today’s Forecast:
A strong storm system to our northwest will impact Colorado today with high winds, dry air on the plains, and high humidity in the mountains.

RED FLAG WARNING: Dry air, very strong winds, and possible dry thunderstorms lead to fire weather conditions. Our entire region is under this warning.

HIGH WIND WARNING: The plains, front range mountains, and San Luis valley will see strong southerly winds gusting up to 60 mph today.

Severe weather risk: The majority of the state has a chance of thunderstorms today, with the lowest chance at the southeast corner of Colorado. The highest threat for severe weather will be in the mountains and western slope.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 83; Low: 53. Still above average temperatures today. Windy through the afternoon, with strong thunderstorms possible this evening.

PUEBLO: High: 90; Low: 55. Hot today with very gusty winds. This evening isolated thunderstorms are possible.

CANON CITY: High: 84; Low: 55. Warm today but cooler than recently, with gusty afternoon winds. Thunderstorms likely this afternoon, some may be strong.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 75; Low: 48. Warm today with gusty winds. This afternoon strong thunderstorms are possible.

TRI-LAKES: High: 70s; Low: 40s. Mid 70s today with very gusty winds. An afternoon to evening strong thunderstorm is possible.

PLAINS: High: 90s/100s; Low: 60s. Upper 90s and 100s today with very strong wind gusts. Dry thunderstorms are possible in the evening.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 80s; Low: 50s. Upper 80s and gusty today. Isolated dry thunderstorm possible in the afternoon.

Extended Outlook:
Sunday is dry overall, with the thunderstorms threat diminishing. The fire danger remains though as humidity drops below 10%. Winds will be gusty but not as strong as Saturday.
