Monitoring increased fire danger this weekend in Colorado

Today’s Forecast:
Red Flag Warnings are in place this afternoon in the eastern plains, including eastern Las Animas, Baca, Bent, Crowley, Otero, Kiowa, and Prowers county.

On Sunday, all the previously mentioned counties, plus eastern Huerfano, Pueblo, El Paso, Fremont, and Chaffee counties are added to the red flag warning.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High: 88; Low: 57. Quite hot today, with breezy winds. Expect clouds and spotty thunderstorms to cool us down this weekend.

PUEBLO: High: 94; Low: 63. Toasty today with lots of sunshine. In the late afternoon clouds will increase and an isolated thunderstorm is possible.

CANON CITY: High: 91; Low: 61. Very warm today but clouds will develop quickly this afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon.

WOODLAND PARK: High: 79; Low: 50. Very warm today with sun to start and clouds in the afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon.

TRI-LAKES: High: 80s; Low: 50s. Low 80s today with breezy winds. Expect clouds and thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

PLAINS: High: 90s; Low: 60s. Upper 90s today with very dry conditions. High fire danger! Dry lightning is possible in the late afternoon to the evening.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High: 80s/90s; Low: 50s/60s. Upper 80s in Walsenburg and low 90s in Trinidad. Spotty afternoon thunderstorms possible.

Extended Outlook:
Looking ahead, Sunday will be mostly dry with the high fire danger. That high risk for fires remains in the forecast Monday and Tuesday where we are hot, dry, and gusty.
