Hot and dry weather becomes the main pattern this week

Today’s Forecast: Today marks a weather pattern change for the state, with our monsoon flow being cut off and dry air moving in. Rain chances will be limited to the mountains today, with an isolated shower making it east of the front range in El Paso county. Temperatures will be up to 5 degrees above average this afternoon.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 87; Low - 56. Today starts clear and temperatures will climb to the upper 80s. A few clouds are possible this afternoon, with an isolated evening thunderstorm possible.

PUEBLO: High - 94; Low - 60. Hot and dry today, with a few clouds this afternoon. Mid 90s are expected today in Pueblo county. The chance for rain is low, but a stray shower is possible.

CANON CITY: High - 90; Low - 63. Very warm today, reaching 90 shortly after lunch. A few showers are possible in the mountains today, with a stray thunderstorm possible in Canon City.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 76; Low - 49. Nice and comfortable this afternoon, reaching the mid 70s. Then a few showers are possible in the afternoon until the early evening, lightning and brief heavy rain will be the main hazards.

TRI-LAKES: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Expect to be in the low 80s today with plenty of sunshine. An afternoon thunderstorm is possible and will be hit or miss.

PLAINS: High - 90s; Low - 60s. Hot today and staying dry. Rain chances will be greatly reduced. Apply plenty of sunscreen!

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 80s; Low - 60s. Warm to the mid 80s in Walsenburg and upper 80s in Trinidad. An isolated storm may move east of the mountains this evening,
