Forecasting thawing conditions with 70s to start the weekend

Today’s Forecast: Sunny and calm conditions expected today in southern Colorado. Most of the lingering snow will melt today. Temperatures will still be below average, climbing to the 50s in lower terrain and some upper 40s in mountain valleys.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 55; Low - 31. Warming up today after a chilly start. Lots of sunshine and light winds.

PUEBLO: High - 58; Low - 30. A cold start, with a mild afternoon. Keep your coats handy. Sunshine and light winds expected.

CANON CITY: High - 57; Low - 35. A chilly start below freezing, warming up later with sunshine all day long. Dress in layers!

WOODLAND PARK: High - 50; Low - 27. Stay chilly today, keep those layers on. The sky will be sunny and snow will continue to melt.

TRI-LAKES: High - 50s; Low - 20s. A warming trend begins today. Still wear extra layers today. Expect sunshine all day!

PLAINS: High - 50s; Low - 20s/30s. Mild this afternoon to the upper 50s and sunshine. Winds will be light.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 40s; Low - 20s. Chilly today, rising to the upepr 40s. The sun will be out and will help to melt the snow.

Extended Outlook: Get outside and take advantage of Saturday's weather! 60s and 70s are expected to start the weekend. Then a powerful cold front arrives and takes temperatures back to the 20s and 30s for Sunday, with light snowfall from morning to mid-afternoon. Accumulations should be light. Another round of snow is possible Monday afternoon, with a few inches possible, or at least enough to shovel. Stay tuned for a detailed snow forecast.
