Flash flood potential ramps up again Thursday

Tonight’s Forecast: Mountain showers will generally stay west of I-25 this evening, with an isolated shower possible through I-25. Storms dissipate tonight and Thursday starts in the 50s and 60s. Thursday will be humid with heavy rain potential. WEATHER ALERT DAY for Thursday.

COLORADO SPRINGS: Low - 59; High - 84. Starting in the upper 50s, Colorado Springs will be humid in the morning with temperatures making it to the low to mid 80s. Showers are likely starting in the early afternoon, with the threat of heavy rainfall until the evening. Watch for lightning and flash flooding.

PUEBLO: Low - 63; High - 93. Pueblo starts humid and mild in the 60s, then warms to the 90s with sunshine in the afternoon. Mid to late afternoon, expect scattered thunderstorms with heavy rain and lightning. Watch for flash flooding. Burn scar flooding is possible on the Junkins scar.

CANON CITY: Low - 64; High - 90. A humid and rainy day is likely for Canon City. The first part of the afternoon will be warm with low 90s. Early afternoon expect thunderstorms to develop with heavy rain possible. The wet mountains are under a flash flood watch. Watch for burn scar flooding on the Junkins and Hayden Pass burn scar.

WOODLAND PARK: Low - 52; High - 77. A nice start will be followed by a stormy afternoon. Highs will only make it to the 70s before lunch time showers develop. Watch for heavy rain and lightning through the afternoon.

TRI-LAKES: Low - 50s; High - 80s. Thursday starts in the mid 50s with humidity, then low 80s are expected for highs. Thunderstorms will be scattered to numerous through the afternoon, starting as early as lunch time. Watch for heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding.

PLAINS: Low - 60s; High - 90s. Hot tomorrow to the mid 90s with humidity. The bulk of the afternoon will be clear of rain, but once storms start to move off the mountains, expect late afternoon and evening thunderstorms to move east of I-25. Heavy rain and flash flooding are possible.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: Low - 50s; High - 80s. Expect mid to upper 80s tomorrow with humidity. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely with flooding rain possible. Huerfano county and the Sangre de Cristos are under a flash flood watch. Watch for burn scar flooding on the Spring Creek burn scar.

Extended Outlook: Thunderstorms are still possible on Friday afternoon, but mostly remaining in the mountains. Both Saturday and Sunday bring more heavy rain potential to the entire forecast area in the afternoon hours.
