Today’s Forecast:
Another day with warm and mostly dry skies, but we’re still looking at a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon. The best place to see rain will be in the mountains of the Front Range, so from Fremont County to Teller and western El Paso County. Storms over the mountains could move east into the plains, but the air is so dry over places like Colorado Springs, the chances of the rain actually hitting the ground are very low. It will be very warm today, even hot for areas like Pueblo and areas east like La Junta, but we’ll stay dry and cool off nicely overnight.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 80; Low – 48. Sunny and dry through the morning with increasing clouds and scattered thunderstorms coming off the mountains in the afternoon. Dry air will likely prevent most of the rain from hitting the ground.

PUEBLO: High – 86; Low – 51.  Sunny and hot today with light winds and mostly dry skies. If a stray thunderstorm were to cross into Pueblo, it would be most likely around or just after 6 pm.;

CANON CITY: High – 83; Low – 53. Sunny and dry through the morning with increasing clouds and scattered thunderstorms coming off the mountains in the afternoon. Dry air will likely prevent most of the rain from hitting the ground.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 70, Low – 43. Sunny in the morning with thicker clouds in the afternoon with thunderstorms that would develop over town and quickly push east towards Colorado Springs.

TRI-LAKES: High – 70s, Low – 40s. Sunny and dry through the morning with increasing clouds and scattered thunderstorms coming off the mountains in the afternoon. Dry air will likely prevent most of the rain from hitting the ground.

PLAINS: High – 80s, Low – 50s. Mostly sunny and hot through the afternoon. A few stray showers or thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon but the chances of staying dry are much higher across all areas east of El Paso and Pueblo counties.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 80s, Low – 40s. Sunny and mostly dry today but a stray thunderstorm coming off the mountains to the west is possible, but unlikely in the afternoon.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
The warmest air of the year arrives Wednesday and Thursday with highs well into the 80s Wednesday, and Pueblo seeing the first 90 of the year Thursday! We should stay mostly dry across southern Colorado from Wednesday through Friday. Rain and thunderstorms are a possibility on Saturday, with a few snow showers mixed in over the mountains.
