Today’s Forecast:
Cold and icy behind the snow that came Sunday into Monday morning, and we’re not quite done! Most of southern Colorado will stay cold and dry today, but light snow will try and return to northern El Paso county later today. Any accumulation across the north side of Colorado Springs to Monument and out east towards Kiowa county should stay under 0.5 inches. The big story for most is just the very cold afternoon and even colder temperatures coming tonight.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 30; Low – 12. Cold with a mix of clouds and some sunshine today. Light snow will fall tonight, mainly in areas along and north of North Academy with accumulation likely staying under 0.25 inches.

CANON CITY: High – 33; Low – 16. Mix of sun and clouds with dry skies and very cold temperatures.temperatures.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 25; Low – 4. Very cold today with flurries to a light snow stacking up to less than a tenth or two this afternoon.

TRI-LAKES: High – 20s; Low – 10s. Very cold with light snow at the end of the day, snow totals should stay under 0.5 inches.

PLAINS: High – 30s; Low – 10s. Mix of sun and clouds with cold afternoon and overnight temps. Light snow up towards Kiowa county this evening should stay at or below 0.5 inches.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 30s; Low – 10s. Mix of sun and clouds cold afternoon and overnight temps.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
This is the first full week of December… and it’s certainly going to feel like it, especially during the mornings. Highs will rise back to the upper 30s Tuesday across the lower elevations and peak on Wednesday in the mid to upper 40s. A strong cold front will put highs back to or below freezing on Thursday, with another snow system possible by Friday. Like last week, our modeling is split on snow for Friday, and we’re leaning towards a drier solution with the snow staying south in New Mexico.
