WIDEFIELD — It's simply the reality of playing through the Pandemic, high school football teams figuring out how to keep their players safe and on the field.

On Friday afternoon, Widefield announced their season-opening contest (Oct. 9th) against Mesa Ridge would be postponed after the high school reported positive cases of COVID-19.

More than 100 students, including members of the football program, were required to quarantine during this period.

Per a source, the Gladiators have moved their rivalry showdown with the Grizzlies to November 20th in place of Pueblo Centennial.

Widefield's second game against Thornton has been canceled and no replacement contest is likely.
