VOTE: Best of News 5 Sports High School 'Dunk of the Year'

With the sports scene coming to a complete halt due to COVID-19, News 5 Sports is getting creative and letting YOU, the viewers, vote on our top dunks, plays, passes, jersey's, etc of the year.

This week, we kick off our Best of News 5 Sports with the 'Dunk of the Year'.

Nominees:

Pueblo East's Jaxson Herring

Herring was dominant for the Eagles all season long, but against Pueblo County at home, he went to a different level. Herring would get a steal and go to the other end for a two-handed dunk. The Eagles would go onto win over the Hornets, 61 to 35, but lose in the Great 8 of the 4A playoffs against Northfield.

Cheyenne Mountain's Javonte Johnson

Johnson has been a human highlight reel all season long, but his best play was against Sand Creek at home. On the break, the future New Mexico Lobo would go windmill-style for the slam, as the Indians would beat the Scorpions, 60 to 55. Cheyenne Mountain would be upset at home in the first round of the 4A playoffs by Lincoln.

The Vanguard School's Dominique Clifford

Clifford has shown why he deserves to play in the Power 5 conference next season, and it was shown on full display against conference rival Manitou Springs. The Colorado commit went Superman on the defender, and with slam, showed no mercy. The Mustangs would end up pulling off the home upset in overtime, 62 to 57, as the Coursers would also lose to Sterling in the Great 8 of the 3A playoffs.

VOTING IS OPEN UNTIL WEDNESDAY AT 2 P.M. MOUNTAIN TIME
