COLORADO SPRINGS — A trio of Air Force football's finest seniors were named to the preseason All-Mountain West team Wednesday afternoon.
Linebacker Demonte Meeks, along with offensive lineman Nolan Laufenberg and Parker Ferguson were selected among the league's best heading into the 2020 campaign.
One of 42 players named to the 17th Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, Meeks recorded 98 tackles last season, including a team-best nine for a loss. For his stellar play, the inside linebacker was named second-team All-Mountain West.
On the offensive side of the ball, Laufenberg, a pre-season Walter Camp All-American, and Ferguson, were part of a Falcons offense that finished second in the nation in rushing (298.5 ypg) during the 2019 season. The unit also ranked second in third-down percentage (53.5%) and time of possession (34:28).
Possibly most impressive, the offensive line limited opposing defenses to four total sacks on the year, ranking No. 1 in college football.
Air Force was picked to finish third in the Mountain Division and opens its 2020 at home against Duquesne on Sept. 5th.
