COLORADO SPRINGS — The Switchbacks FC returned to the pitch at Weidner Field Friday in preparation for their Saturday showdown at El Paso.

Following a strong start to their season, Colorado Springs has dropped three-straight matches and sits at 1-1-4 during the 2020 USL Championship campaign.

"Forming a winning team actually takes some time," center back Kris Reaves said. With this pandemic, we do not have all this time so we are trying to get it going as fast as we can."

Despite the record, head coach Alan Koch believes his team has played solid soccer in the very difficult Group C and is using these matches to build towards the future.

With injuries playing a factor this weekend, it'll be a shorthanded unit for this 90-minute contest, which means opportunities for other players to step up.

"This is a season of assessment," Koch said. "I know I keep saying that but what better choice as a player do you have to be assessed then the opportunity to step on the field. If we have a shrunk squad with reduced players now is your opportunity. Embrace it when you can.

Switchbacks FC fell to the Locomotives 4-2 earlier in the year. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
