MANITOU SPRINGS — It was a record breaking day at the 2019 Pikes Peak Marathon on Sunday.
Switzerland's Maude Mathys set a new women's course record by running the Pikes Peak Marathon in 4:02:45, shattering the old record set in 2018 by 13 minutes.
On the men's side, Spain's Killian Jornet won with a winning time of 3:16:39, but missed the course record by 11 minutes.
The long-standing men’s course record that is held by Matt Carpenter, who ran 3:16:39 in 1993, is still in tact.
