The Doherty and Lewis-Palmer girls basketball teams picked up wins in round 1 of the CHSAA playoffs Tuesday night.
In a Class 5A showdown, the Spartans cruised past Legend 47-29 as they will meet Denver East in round 2 Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
A much tighter contest ensued in a Class 4A matchup of local powers with the Rangers holding off Widefield, 54-50.
Lewis-Palmer advances to meet Glenwood Springs Friday night. The time of the game has not yet been announced.
