With the Blues in town to play the Avalanche Thursday, News 5 Sports had the chance to catch up with former Colorado College standout Jaden Schwartz at the Pepsi Center.
The St. Louis center and Stanley Cup champion is off to a great start this season with 13 goals and 34 points in the team's first 42 games.
"Just trying to stay consistent, keep building my game a little bit," Schwartz said. "Make sure I'm doing my job around the team and play my game. I really don't think of the points so much as doing the little things and getting ready. Been a pretty good start for everyone so far."
Earlier this summer, the Saskatchewan native was back in Colorado Springs to skate at his alma mater, where he tallied 88 points in 2010 and 2011.
While the 2010 first round draft pick doesn't have a lot of free time, he makes sure to keep up with his former Tigers' teammates and maintain the close relationships he made during his time here.
Prior to tonight's contest, Schwartz said he expected to have a nice cheering section for the showdown of the Western Conference's two best teams.
"There will be a couple of friends coming, family friends," Schwartz said. "I think the CC team is a little busy right now but some friends from the Springs are coming up, so it will be good to see them."
