COLORADO SPRINGS — One of the best girls basketball programs in Colorado Springs took a blow on Monday.

Sand Creek's Peydan Goldberg confirmed to News5 Sports that she has resigned as girls basketball coach for the Lady Scorpions.

After taking over the program in 2017, Sand Creek has not missed the playoffs under Goldberg's leadership.

The former UCCS star was also part of the Lady Scorpions run to the 2015 state title game as an assistant. Sand Creek would end up losing that game to Valor Christian.

"I want to take a step back from coaching basketball," explained Goldberg, who also wants to spend more time with her family.

She hopes to be part of the Sand Creek girls basketball program in a lesser role this next season.

This past season the Lady Scorpions went an incredible 23-2 but lost in the Sweet 16 to Canon City.
