The Sand Creek girls basketball team is ready for a deep playoff run after a 22-1 regular season and earning the No. 1 seed in Class 4A.

"We all had this goal at the beginning of the season, the coaches asked us what our goals were for the season and everyone said to get to the state tournament and win state," senior guard Krystina Hagood said.

Having won 19-straight games after a 3-1 start, the Scorpions open their postseason run Friday night when they host Centaurus at 6 p.m.

SCHS has made noise in recent years, advancing to the Final Four in 2015 and 2016 but this veteran group is still searching for their first state championship.

"We wanted this to be No. 1 since the beginning of the season and that's just the culture here," junior guard Kianna Lemons said. "We want to be the best, so we just grind every single day at practice. We look up, there's one spot that we'd like to fulfill and our coach talks about leaving our legacy and we want to leave our legacy here at Sand Creek."
