Both the Pueblo East Eagles and the Classical Academy Titans picked up narrow upset victories on Wednesday night in the Sweet 16 of the 4A boy's basketball playoffs.
The No. 13 Eagles were able to take down the No. 4 Golden Demons, 65-62 to advance to the Great 8 of the Class 4A state playoffs.
Senior Darnell Kindred led the way for East with a team-high 20 points as the Eagles play in the Great 8 for the second straight year against No. 5 Northfield.
As for TCA, the No. 11 Titans upset No. 6 Skyline 56 to 53.
The Classical Academy will play Longmont in the Great 8 on Saturday in Longmont at 3 P.M.
The Widefield Gladiators saw their season come to an end with a 54-33 loss to Longmont. The Gladiators end the season with a 17-9 record.
