There were three tremendous efforts for the News 5 Sports "Goal of the Year", but when the voting finished, a postseason contender took top honors.

In Pine Creek's 3-1 playoff-opening win against Monarch, Eagles junior forward Jonathan Cole extended a 1-0 lead in the second period with a gorgeous top shelf goal.

"It started off as a face-off play that our coaches have been drilling into us to do and it just worked out perfectly," Cole said.

The beautiful finish helped Ed Saxer's team build a lead they wouldn't relinquish on their way to the CHSAA boys hockey quarterfinals.

Another tremendous season, Pine Creek would finish their 2019-20 campaign at 17-2-2.

"As a team it was unbelievable because it gave us the extra boost, making us think, we can do this," Cole said. "We can make it further than any Pine Creek team ever has and just as a team effort it was awesome."
