PUEBLO — One day after CHSAA announced the playoff brackets for all division, one local team saw their first round game canceled.
Per a Twitter post, the Mead Mavericks had to forfeit their quarterfinal playoff game with Pueblo South due to COVID-19 concerns.
We feel for the @MeadFootball community and have nothing but respect for their football program. We know Saturday would have been a battle. Wishing everyone an abundance of health and safety. @MeadAthletics

The Colts where scheduled to host Mead on Saturday at Dutch Clarke Stadium at 1 P.M.
"I feel bad for Mead," explained Colts senior wide receiver Luke Guarienti. "That just stinks with how COVID does that to them. We felt the same way because pf the first two weeks with us, as we had to sit out. I feel so bad because its a playoff game too."
Pueblo South will now advance to the 3A semifinals game, were they await the winner of Roosevelt and Fort Morgan.
