COLORADO SPRINGS — There were three great options for this week's Friday Football Fever: Play of the Night. However, one caught the eyes of our viewers and commanded the voting poll.
In Pine Creek's impressive 59-14 win over Doherty at Garry Berry Stadium this past week, the Eagles red zone connection proved to be a serious advantage.
No play more indicative, then Quarterback Josiah Roy's touchdown pass to Alex Nelson. Tipped at the goal line, the junior kicked the deflected pass into his hands for a beautiful scoring grab.
"That was honestly the craziest play I've ever had in my football career," Nelson said. "When he deflected the ball, I said, I've got to get this. I positioned myself and it somehow hit my legs and shot up, I don't know how that happened. Once that happened, I just used that concentration, snagged it out of the air, and got a touchdown."
With the victory, Pine Creek improved to 2-0 on the season and play at Legend Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
