FLORENCE — There were three great choices for the Friday Football Fever: Play of the Night, however one took off and never looked back.
With nearly 8,000 votes, Florence's halfback pass from Jacob Kennedy to Luguse Nuss took the Week 2 honors.
On their first play from scrimmage, quarterback Lincoln Nix tossed it to Kennedy, who threw a 40-yard pass to Nuss to set up the game's first touchdown. The freshman making an acrobatic one-handed grab to add flair to an already impressive call.
The Huskies would go on to top Rocky Ford, 48-6, and improve to 2-0 on the season.
"It was a fun play, couldn't have done it without my teammates," Nuss said. "My offensive line blocking and Jacob Kennedy making that pass. We've been working on that play in practice, Kennedy threw a good ball, just set me up."
Florence travels to take on Peyton this Thursday night in a matchup of undefeated squads. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
