Air Force's Luke Manning scored in the shootout to give the Falcons two points in the 3-3 overtime tie at Canisius Friday night.
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Bennett Norlin and Blake Bride.
However, the Golden Griffins would respond with the next three to take a 3-2 lead midway through in the third period.
AFA's Alex Mehnert evened the scored with under seven minutes to play to force the extra session.
With the shootout win, Air Force improves to 8-14-5 and 8-10-5 in Atlantic Hockey.
Falcons goaltender Alex Schilling made 18 saves on the night. The two teams wrap their series Saturday at 2: 05 p.m.
