The Air Force men's hockey team headed out to Falcon Stadium Tuesday afternoon to get a look at their new rink prior to next Monday's showdown with Colorado College.
"It's going to be an awesome experience, for me as well as everybody else that's going to be out there," junior defenseman Zach Mirageas said. "The referees, coaches, it's going to be a surreal experience."
In the first hockey game played at Falcon Stadium in its 58 year existence, players making sure to soak up all of the experiences heading into the weekend. Air Force will attend the Stadium Series game Saturday, practice on the ice Sunday and meet the Tigers Monday at 5:05 p.m.
"It's awesome, I didn't realize how small it would look compared to the stadium," senior captain Matt Pulver said. "They said it's regulation size, so we're excited to play here on Monday and watch the NHL Game on Saturday."
"We're so excited, obviously everyone gets up for the rivalry and now it's an outdoor game," junior forward Shawn Knowlton said. "Everyone grows up on the pond. Building rinks in their backyard and now it's real life so it's going to be very exciting."
