SPRINGFIELD, Mass — The Air Force men's hockey program dropped their season opener to AIC, 3-1 Friday afternoon at the MassMutual Center.
Thanks to a solid effort in front, the Falcons took a 1-0 lead 90 seconds into the game as Will Gavin deflected Keenan Lund's shot into the back of the net.
Yellow Jackets Luka Maver tied the game with under two minutes to play in the period. Late in the second, Tobias Fladeby scored on the power play to put AIC ahead for good, they'd add an empty-net goal late in the third period.
Falcons goaltender Alex Schilling made 22 saves in the loss, while Stefano Durante made 15 for the home team.
Both teams wrap up their two-game series Saturday, puck drop is set for 1:05 p.m.
