The Doherty high school football team fell to Mullen 44-17 Thursday night at Garry Berry Stadium.
Playing against a perennial powerhouse in the Mustangs, the Spartans trailed 19-14 at halftime before being outscored 25-3 in the final two quarters.
After starting the season with two tough losses against Colorado's best, Doherty has another stiff test next week when they travel to Pine Creek.
