CU's Bey named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Wright named to All-Pac-12 team

BOULDER — University of Colorado Buffaloes junior forward Tyler Bey was named the 2019-20 Pac-12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year while fellow junior McKinley Wright IV was tabbed first team all-conference for the second time by a vote of league coaches the conference announced on Monday.

In addition, Bey was selected to the All-Pac-12 Second Team while joining Wright on the Pac-12's five-member All-Defensive squad. He led the Buffs with 35 blocks & 46 steals this season, bringing down 9.1 rebounds per game.

Bey is Colorado's second Defensive Player of the Year in any conference, joining Andre Roberson who earned the Pac-12's honor in 2012-13. He's the first Buffalo to win two different major conference player of the year type awards. Bey was the Pac-12's Most Improved Player of the Year in 2018-19.

For Wright IV, he led CU in scoring and assists this season.
