DENVER – The Denver Broncos congratulated Saints Quarterback Drew Brees for breaking Peyton Manning’s NFL record for passing yards with a message from the sheriff himself.

The Broncos tweeted a video showing Manning making a salad when he’s interrupted by someone off camera who said Brees just broke Manning’s record of 71,940 career passing yards.

That’s when Manning, who’s also known for his sense of humor, issued a heartfelt congratulatory message to the Saints quarterback.

“For 1,000 days, I’ve held the record for all-time passing yards in the NFL,” Manning said. “I got to tell you, it’s been the greatest 1,000 days of my life. Thanks to you, that’s over now.”

He also added, “I’ve got nothing left to look forward to except for slicing my tomatoes, making dinner for my family, putting together this wedge salad.

Manning also pre-emptively congratulated Brees for breaking his all-time passing touchdown record, which hasn’t happened yet, but could happen later this season.

After the Saints 43-19 win over Washington Monday night, Brees has 499 passing touchdowns. Manning still holds the record with 539. Tom Brady is currently one touchdown ahead of Brees, with 500.

Manning broke Brett Favre’s all-time passing yards record in a 29-13 Broncos loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014.
