COLORADO SPRINGS — Tigers forward Grant Cruikshank tallied his first career hat trick and freshman goaltender Matt Vernon made 27 saves as Colorado College topped Air Force 4-2 Monday night in the Faceoff at Falcon Stadium.
The first college hockey game in the stadium's 58-year history did not disappoint as the Colorado Springs rivals traded goals late into the third period.
Completing the two-game series sweep after Friday's 6-2 win, the Tigers retained the Pikes Peak Trophy and earned major bragging rights after winning the first outdoor hockey game between the two schools.
Chris Wilkie tallied his 20th goal in the victory, with Brandon Koch and Luke Rowe finding the net for Air Force in the loss.
Both teams return to conference action this weekend, as Air Force plays host to Mercyhurst while Colorado College hits the road to take on Omaha.
