FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Colorado State's delayed football season just got delayed again.

The Rams' season opener Saturday against New Mexico has been cancelled due to COVID-19 rates in Bernalillo County, N.M., where the University of New Mexico is located in Albuquerque.

Bernalillo County has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases this month, so the New Mexico team would have been unable to travel to Fort Collins for Saturday's game, according to the Mountain West Conference.

The game will not be rescheduled, leaving Colorado State seven games on the shortened season. The Rams are scheduled to play at Fresno State on Oct. 29.
