Two of Southern Colorado's top basketball teams took the court Thursday night looking to hold onto their No. 1 rankings.

In a tight 4A boys hoops showdown, Cheyenne Mountain held off a motivated Coronado squad, 83-76 in overtime. With the win, the Indians improve to 8-0 on the season.

Across town, St. Mary's proved to be too much for No. 7 Vanguard, cruising to an 82-39 victory. Senior guard Josephine Howery set a school record with 41 points on the night.

The Pirates run their record to 7-1 this year with their lone loss coming to defending 5A State Champion Cherry Creek.
