USAFA — Air Force men’s basketball (4-10, 2-8 MW) dropped a 91-59 Mountain West contest to San Diego State (11-4, 5-3 MW) Sunday night at Clune Arena. Sophomore Nikc Jackson led the Falcons with 17 points.

San Diego State made 16 three’s on the night, shooting 53 percent from the three-point range on the night. Guard Jordan Shackel led San Diego State with 24 points, connecting on four three’s. Guard Terrell Gomez added 15 points on five three’s.

Air Force shot 47 percent from the field, snapping a four-game streak of shooting 50 percent or better from the field.

Jackson shot 7 of 11 from the field for his second-best scoring night of the season. The forward also had two steals and a blocked shot.

Senior Chris Joyce scored 13 points, connecting on a pair of threes. Joyce also had a team-high four assists.

Senior Ameka Akaya and sophomore Mason Taylor led the Falcon reserves with six points each. Both hit two three’s each.

Air Force returns to action Thursday, Jan. 28, beginning at two-game conference series against San Jose State. The games will be played at Ability 360 Sports & Fitness Center in Phoenix, Ariz. Thursday’s game tips at 7:30 pm MT and will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
