COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.

In the midst of these changes, many local businesses are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.

Similarly, businesses hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.

This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.

This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses that are still open and finding unique ways to serve the community.

With all of this in mind, let's take a look at Sage Affordable Tutoring, an organization that has started to offer free online PSAT and SAT tutoring classes so that students stuck at home can continue to prepare for their next steps.

"This won't reach everyone," stated Phillip Hutcherson, owner of Sage Affordable Tutoring, "and I know that, I'm just hoping that I can reach as many people as possible."

Hutcherson says that in the online setting, students often interact with each other as well as him as they work though the learning course. This interaction, he believes, is valuable to students who are having to practice social distancing from friends.

"I think they were all happy about two weeks of spring break but it gets pretty old, pretty quick to not be able to see your friends," stated one parent.

Currently about 40 students are making use of the online courses, with more signing on regularly. Hutcherson says he is having to change his own schedule around to meet with the increasing demand.

Sage Affordable Tutoring also continues to provide its normal services in an online setting.
