COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.
In the midst of these changes, many local businesses are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.
Similarly, businesses hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.
This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.
This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses that are still open and finding unique ways to serve the community.
With all of this in mind, let's take a look at Glassical Designs, a Springs-based company that works to create glass and crystal awards and trophies, which is now working to create and distribute face shields and sneeze guards.
Due to the cancellation of many, if not all, award ceremonies and major gatherings, the business lost a large portion of their 2020 sales.
However, instead of sitting on their hands, Glassical Designs is working to create sneeze guards and face shields that are able to be sanitized and reused.
"We just put our heads together and felt that it was an important thing for us to figure out a way to meet a need and also try and keep our people busy," stated Nora Lamar, CEO of Glassical Designs.
The company has already started selling the new product and hopes to be able to keep more people safe in and out of their workspaces.
"When things like this happen and you have no control over it, you have control over some things," commented Lamar.
