COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.
In the midst of these changes, many local businesses and organizations are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.
Similarly those hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.
This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.
This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses and organizations that are still open or are reopening and finding unique ways to serve the community.
With all of this in mind, let's take a look at FH Beerworks which is providing another social outlet for folks in the Springs by utilizing their large lot as a drive-in movie theater and stand-up comedy venue.
The Springs local brewery sits on five acres of land and decided that since it was not being used, they should find a way to host safe community-driven events.
"They've been selling out within hours of putting the events up," stated Niki Fields of FH Beerworks, "everyone has been having a really fun time, it's a way for people to come out and do something social safely."
The brewery, which is now open for dine-in options as well, has been hosting Friday and Saturday drive-in events since close to the beginning of May.
"Our tag line is craft community and that's what we aim to do," continued Niki, "we really hope that people are getting a sense of community and normalcy out of this."
"It gives people that opportunity to get out of the house [and] to feel like they're a part of something and still stay safe," said Travis Fields, owner of FH Beerworks.
The brewery plans to continue the drive-in events through the summer and as long as physical distancing remains the safe and advised way to interact with others. They hope that that the new venture is successful or desired enough that they can make it a full time feature of their business.
