COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.

In the midst of these changes, many local businesses and organizations are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.

Similarly those hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.

This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.

This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses and organizations that are still open or are reopening and finding unique ways to serve the community.

With all of this in mind, let's take a look at COSiloveyou which has been working with multiple non-profits, local churches, and businesses to help deliver food, medications, essentials, and hope to those in our area in need.

Over the past several weeks, a coalition consisting of COSiloveyou, Pikes Peak United Way, Salvation Army, Care and Share Food Bank, Crossfire Ministries, Silver Key and others have been working to deliver food boxes to those in our community.

This was accomplished using the 2-1-1 help line hosted by Pikes Peak United Way. This specific food box delivery program concluded on May 29th.

COSiloveyou has also been working alongside Pikes Peak United Way, again utilizing the 2-1-1 line, in order to mobilize their large network of church based volunteers to meet other needs that arise in our community. They have had the chance to deliver medication and lend a listening ear to fight off isolation from a healthy distance, among other things.

The organization has been working for years to find ways to mobilize their network of volunteers more consistently rather than just during the massive events COSiloveyou is known for.

"We've been able to take some of those things that happen by the thousands once a year and turn it into something that is happening on, really, a more ongoing basis," stated Stu Davis, director of COSiloveyou.

The group hopes to continue to prove that when the business, civic, and faith communities work together they can accomplish more than if they were to work separately.
