COLORADO SPRINGS — There's no arguing that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed a massive portion of our daily lives.

In the midst of these changes, many local businesses are finding ways to overcome and adapt to keep their doors open, while at the same time, help those around them.

Similarly, businesses hit hard are reporting a tremendous outpouring of support from the community.

This outpouring reminding all of us that while this global epidemic has changed so much, it HASN'T changed people's desire for community.

This is We're Open Colorado, a segment dedicated to highlighting local businesses that are still open and finding unique ways to serve the community.

With all of this in mind, let's take a look at COSILOVEYOU which is partnering with several Springs local churches to start providing free food truck meals to our healthcare workers throughout the summer of 2020.

COSILOVEYOU is working with its 45 churches to provide the funds necessary to support the initiative.

According to the non-profit, the initiative will work to feed the following hospitals once a week:

  • Penrose
  • Saint Francis
  • Memorial North
  • Memorial Central

The plan is to provide 150 free meals to each location each week through the end of July.

"I hope that our frontline workers remember that their is a community that is supporting them and praying for them, and if just a tangible way of a short meal is a way to get that point across, we're here for them," commented Thomas Thompson, partnerships director for COSILOVEYOU.

This initiative not only provides free meals to our front line workers, but also helps to support our local food truck scene.
