Food trends are ever-evolving, paving the way for new dishes while the old ones get forgotten.

Well, we aren’t ready to let certain recipes be forgotten forever. Take these vintage pie recipes, for example. Although they may not be as popular as apple pie, there’s a reason these old-fashioned pies were once beloved.

Besides, knowing how trends go, it’s only a matter of time before what’s old is new again and every hip restaurant in town starts serving slices of vinegar pie.

So, go ahead and resurrect an oldie but goodie and try one of these six lesser-known but oh-so-delicious pie recipes.

Lemon Buttermilk Pie

This classic custard pie delicately balances sweet and sour. It uses just the staples — flour, buttermilk, sugar, eggs and butter — but it delivers a taste that will have you wondering why you hadn’t tried it sooner.

Chocolate Chess Pie

Chess pie is a super-sweet Southern classic with two distinctive ingredients: cornmeal and vinegar. This chocolatey version takes the traditional chess pie up a notch, thanks to the addition of rich cocoa.

Shoofly Pie

Shoofly pie comes from the Pennsylvania Dutch, and it gets its name from the flies that are attracted to its sweet, molasses scent. There are two versions of shoofly pie, one with a wet bottom and more of a custard consistency, and one with a dry bottom that is more cake-like.

Old-Fashioned Vinegar Pie

There’s that vinegar again. Vinegar pie sounds funky, but it was a staple back in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s time. In fact, you can find a recipe for vinegar pie in the “Little House on the Prairie” cookbook.

Twitter user @frenchcritter tried their hand at baking the vinegar pie and it looks like it came out perfectly!

It resembles a cream pie, but uses much less expensive ingredients (like vinegar). You won’t believe how light and creamy this pie turns out.

Sweet Potato Pie

Sure you’ve had pumpkin pie, but have you tried sweet potato pie? It is a favorite dessert in the southern region of the U.S. and is simple to make.

This buttery, vanilla-flavored pie is made with sweet potatoes, butter, brown sugar and evaporated milk, making it a creamy fall dessert that rivals its pumpkin counterpart.

And did you know that you can make a purple sweet potato pie? Yes, purple! If you look around you can find some beautiful purple potatoes in the store.

Instagram user @wifemamafoodie shared this vegan-friendly recipe that almost looks too beautiful to eat!

Amish Peanut Butter Cream Pie

Cream pies can be a little boring, but not this version. This Amish-inspired peanut butter pie is as creamy as it gets.

Peanut butter is layered with vanilla pudding and whipped cream to make a unique pie that is sure to please kids and parents alike. Get the recipe at The Baking ChocolaTess.

And you can see how the pros do it in this picture posted to Twitter by @VisitSarasota from Sarasota, Florida’s Amish restaurant, Yoder’s:
