The family of Otto Warmbier is chasing down North Korean assets. Warmbier's parents filed a claim to a North Korean cargo ship seized by the United States, saying it could be used to pay off part of the family's $500 million judgement against the country.
The family was awarded the money in December as a result of a wrongful death lawsuit against the North Korean government.
Their son Otto, a college student, was detailed for 17 months by the North Korean government and his parents say he was tortured before being returned to the U.S. last year. He died shortly after his return.
In their suit, the Warmbier family says North Korea did not participate in any settlement discussions and they will continue to seek the country's assets.
