According to the Gila County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle tried to cross Tonto Creek at the Bar X crossing at about 4 p.m. local time Friday but was swept up by flooding.

Two adults and four children made it out fo the car alive. One of the adults and the children were later rescued from an island in the creek, and the second adult was able to make it to the creek bank. They were eventually rescued and taken to shore with the assistance of a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office helicopter.
