Sen. Lisa Murkowski says she will vote 'no' on calling more witnesses in Trump impeachment

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, said Friday that she will vote "no" on subpoenaing further witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

Murkowski's decision comes hours after Sen. Lamar Alexander, R- Tennessee, said he would also vote "no" on calling further witnesses.

“Given the partisan nature of this impeachment from the very beginning and throughout, I have come to the conclusion that there will be no fair trial in the Senate," Murkowski wrote in a statement published to her website. "I don’t believe the continuation of this process will change anything. It is sad for me to admit that, as an institution, the Congress has failed. "

The two moderate Republicans' decision to vote no all but kills the Democrats' hopes of subpoenaing former National Security Advisor John Bolton to testify in the impeachment trial.
