Three adults also suffered gunshot wounds in what police are calling a possible drive-by. No arrests have been made.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at Byers and Pecos Park in the 1400 block of West Byers – near Alameda and Pecos.

Police said six people were transported to the hospital. Three others arrived at the hospital later. Police said the injuries reported in the shooting are non-life-threatening. Their conditions as of Monday are not known.

Denver police released Monday the ages and gender of the nine victims, including a tenth person who was hit by a vehicle that was leaving the area. Police say that driver did not stay on scene.

Witnesses told Denver7 that during the gathering at the park, a fight broke out and people started pulling out guns.

“After hearing gunshots, I got up and I heard my aunt screaming from outside, because they were out here,” a witness who wished to remain anonymous told Denver7. ”Everybody started scattering, and a couple more gunshots got loose and people started panicking.”

Police initially tweeted that they were responding to the area on a report of an active shooter. However, after arriving on scene, officers determined those reports were unfounded.
