PUEBLO, Colo. (KOAA) — A suspect was taken to the hospital after being shot by police in Pueblo Tuesday evening.
The incident started around 3:30 p.m. after the Pueblo Police Department received a report of a domestic fight with weapons in the 900 block of Alexander Circle, which is located near the intersection of Bonforte Boulevard and Constitution Road.
Police say the suspect left before officers arrived, and they began checking his known addresses. They noticed his vehicle around 7:45 p.m. in the 800 block of E. 5th Street, which is located on the east side of the city.
When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he allegedly fired at officers.
The SWAT Team was called, and when they arrived, the suspect again fired at law enforcement. Officers returned fire and hit the suspect. He was taken to the hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Police say no officers were injured during the incident.
