PUEBLO, Colo. — A Pueblo man has been charged with attempted vehicular assault after ramming a patrol vehicle while trying to escape from law enforcement, according to a spokesperson with the Pueblo Police Department.
Demarco Gagellos, 31, was arrested Friday night near the intersection of E. 4th Street and N. Glendale Avenue after trying to escape from police officers, who had initiated a traffic stop after observing Gallegos had committed a traffic violation, according to a news release.

Police said they were working a proactive Directed Investigations and Community Engagement (DICE) enforcement in the area when they observed Gallegos commit the violation. As they exited the vehicle to try contact the suspect, Gallegos reportedly attempted to flee by reversing at a high rate of speed, colliding with the front of the patrol vehicle.
Gallegos then reportedly accelerated forward, striking an occupied parked vehicle and the concrete pillars in front of the store. He then allegedly reversed at a high speed into the patrol vehicle and accelerated a second time, hitting the victim’s vehicle and the store’s pillars for a second time.
Police said Gallegos then got out of the vehicle and attempted to run from officers, but was subsequently subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.
After he was given medical clearance, Gallegos was taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center where he was charged with attempted vehicular assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
