Nominees:

Vanguard's Dominique Clifford

The Vanguard Coursers took a trip to rival Manitou Springs this year, and as the saying goes, 'Big players play big, in big game'. CU commit Dominique Clifford was that against the Mustangs. One play in particular would be on the baseline in the first half. Clifford, with his back to the basket, hits the fade-away with nothing but net. Manitou Springs would go onto win in overtime, 62 to 57 as Vanguard would lose in the Great 8 to Sterling.

Mesa Ridge's desperation shot

With the clock running down, Mesa Ridge had to get up a shot against Fountain-Fort Carson and they sent up a prayer. Jordan Hotz with a heave from a little outside the three point arc and the bucket goes, with the foul. Some call it luck, we call it skill. The Grizzlies would go onto lose 77 to 60 to the Trojans and fall in the 2nd round of the 4A playoffs to Montrose.

Howery's step-back 3

Back to Manitou Springs, where the Mustangs hosting another rival St. Mary's. It's the Pirates Sam Howery, the brother of senior star Josephine Howery, with the cross-over step back (bobby jack at ESPN's Neil Everett would say) 3 that is nothing but net. I wonder if the sophomore guard has used that against his sister in one-on-one? The Mustangs would go onto win over St. Mary's 67 to 50 and fall to Faith Christian in the Sweet 16.
