DENVER — Officers arrested 170 people during Sunday night’s protest in Denver, marking a total of 284 arrests over the past four days, the City of Denver announced Monday.

The nearly 300 arrests include charges of curfew violations, assault, criminal mischief, assault to a peace officer, burglary and arson. Of those arrested is a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that injured three Denver officers Saturday night.

Anthony Knapp, 37, faces charges of first-degree assault and attempted first-degree assault , according to the Denver Police Department.

The city has been marked by violence and unrest over the past four days as peaceful daytime protests for George Floyd devolve into tense standoffs with police who attempt to enforce the city’s emergency curfew, which was extended Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.

Scores of business, government buildings and Civic Center Park have been damaged during the nighttime skirmishes with authorities.

Another protest at the State Capitol Building is planned for Monday evening. It’s unclear if the pattern of peaceful gathering to unrest will continue for a fifth night.
