Aurora police searching for 36-year-old man in connection to Christmas Day homicide

UPDATE | Friday, 3 p.m. — The man who died in a shooting in Aurora on Christmas Day has been identified as 39-year-old Aarion Earle Derritt. He died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was classified as a homicide, according to the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office. A balloon release is planned for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Highland Hollows Park in Aurora, about a mile from Derritt's home.

AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora are searching for a 36-year-old man in connection to a homicide in Aurora early Christmas morning.

The Aurora Police Department said the man, who's name is Curtis Davis-Barnes, is considered armed and dangerous. Police are asking the public to call 911 if they see him, but to not approach the man.

He may be driving a 2007 gray BMW 525 with license plate number CPL-238, police said.

The homicide occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Police found a man inside a home along the 17000 block of E. Kansas Place with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene, police said. He has not been identified.
